What is Hypnotherapy?

Understanding this safe and effective therapy.

Hypnotherapy is useful for creating change because it works with the subconscious mind—the part of you that stores habits, beliefs, and emotional patterns. In your everyday state, it can be hard to shift long-held behaviours or thought cycles because the conscious mind often gets in the way with worries, overthinking, or resistance.

During hypnotherapy, you enter a deeply relaxed and focused state where that mental “noise” quiets down. This allows you to explore new ideas, adopt healthier perspectives, and strengthen the positive changes you want to make.

Whether it’s building confidence, reducing stress, breaking unhelpful habits, or supporting emotional healing, hypnotherapy gently reinforces the mindset and behaviours that help you move forward—making change feel more natural and achievable.

Hypnotherapy works by helping you enter a state of deep relaxation—similar to being absorbed in a daydream—where your mind becomes calmer and more open to positive suggestions. You’re not asleep or controlled in any way; you’re simply more focused and less distracted by everyday thoughts.

In this relaxed state, I will guide you to explore helpful ideas, new perspectives, or healthier habits that feel easier to accept and act on. It’s a bit like quieting the “noise” in your mind so you can tune into what you truly need.

This gentle process helps many people reduce stress, boost confidence, and make meaningful changes in their lives.

What does hypnotherapy feel like?

Hypnotherapy usually feels like a deep, peaceful relaxation—similar to the calm you experience just before falling asleep or when you’re completely absorbed in a daydream. Your body may feel lighter or heavier, your breathing slows naturally, and your mind becomes quieter and more focused. Many people describe it as a pleasant, soothing state where they feel safe, aware, and fully in control. You can still hear my voice and think your own thoughts, but distractions fade into the background. Everyone experiences it slightly differently, but most people find hypnotherapy calming, comfortable, and surprisingly familiar.
